Fire station Redneck Rice

This is a station classic, originally created by a fireman at my station that is now retired. Give it a try and let me know what you think!




Fire station Redneck Rice


Ingredients


  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 12 oz smoked sausage

  • 1 diced red bell pepper

  • 6 green onions

  • 3 stalks celery diced

  • 2 cups cooked rice

  • 2 cups cheddar cheese

  • Tony Chachere's no salt seasoning (or no salt seasoning of choice)

  • 1/4 cup paprika

  • Soy sauce

  • Sriracha


Directions


  1. Cook rice according to instructions on bag. Preheat oven to 350 degrees while rice is cooking.

  2. Brown ground beef with 1 tbs of Tony's no salt seasoning. Drain and remove from skillet.

  3. In same skillet, brown sliced smoked sausage, diced red bell pepper, diced celery, and white ends of green onions. Season with 1 tbs no salt seasoning. Once done, remove from heat.

  4. Add ground beef and rice to skillet. Add paprika and stir to combine.

  5. Add 1/2 cup of cheese to skillet and stir to combine. Top the rest of the skillet with the remaining cheese.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

  7. Garnish with sliced green onion, soy sauce, and sriracha. Enjoy!
